My tag cloud records that I write with surprising frequency about “Being Present.” It makes me laugh. Zen master, I am not. Obviously that’s a message I crave.
But today I laughed at the more literal meaning. Students excel by turning up for every class and showing up for every page they’re assigned to read or write. It works for me, too. Put the commitment on my calendar and (unless I forget to read the calendar), I simply carry my body to my computer or to the event. It’s amazing what unfolds from there.
Avoid being absent. We must be present to win!
