It’s always a joy to meet former students and learn they’re doing well. Recently I ran into one I remembered fondly. She told me she’d always struggled in my class–she was always behind–but in the subsequent course, she is keeping up all the time, and doing well.
I mentioned that she had been going through some tough times back then, and she said, “Oh, that hasn’t changed, but I’ve learned to handle it.” Her secret thrilled me. She had taken my advice to keep a private journal, and it helps her every day. Now she writes about here troubles, and says, “Then I can get back to my school work.”
I told her I can now die happy. Mission accomplished.
I am so proud of her. And I’m so grateful for all the teachers and authors who shared the same advice with me. If you need to take a break from your public blog writing, do it. (I have!) But keep your journal and your life flowing.
